Images from trip to minesite
Here are some recent images from a recent trip to a mine:
http://pursuit.net.au/images.html Hope you like the photos. They are 1-1.6 MB each so they are fairly large. (Note that no shots are of the minesite itself, as this is not permitted without the proper authorisation). We started our trip soon after I flew into the first town. We went to the gas station, and an older American couple were asking directions from the woman at the counter. :D On the drive through the desert, we stopped off a couple of times. I was able to get near a waterhole and take a shot of some cattle. This was one of the rare creek beds with actual water in it, most are dry. Right after taking that shot, the cattle spooked and ran for it (they are not that accustomed to humans out there), and a whole nest of birds in the tree then flew away. The terrain shown is pretty typical of the entire region. |

Thanks for that Infidel. Saved me some effort there! I've added it onto the original page so people can browse the lower-res ones too. If you want to zoom in on something (like the cattle for instance) you will need the higher res images for the detail. |

The mine is an iron ore mine that is being commissioned. There are no photos of the actual mine sadly. In the distance in one of the shots you can see a hill that has been levelled, that is part of mining operations for another company in the area. |

Re: Images from trip to minesite
Sorry, had a problem with one of the paths on the server which prevented the low-res images being accessible. I have fixed this up now.
